Seib and Sorem Retire from the Board of Trustees
Two valuable members of the Lane-Scott Electric Board of Trustees have retired this year. Collectively the have provided 69 years of service to the Lane-Scott Board of Trustees.
Mr. Paul Seib Jr. has represented the Ness – Rush County District since 1975, serving an amazing 48 years. He served as the Lane-Scott Electric Board Secretary and as the Sunflower Electric Board Delegate for Lane-Scott Electric for 44 years. In that time, he held positions of Vice-President, President, and Chairman as well as Director of Mid-Kansas Electric Company, LLC and Director of Sunflower Electric Holdings, Inc. Mr. Seib is a farmer by trade, and farmed in Ness County with his wife Shelby where they raised six children. He is also a United States Veteran having served in the Airforce from 1954-1956, serving overseas and stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Other community involvement include the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, past director and board chairman for the High Plains Farm Credit Services in Ness City, and other various boards including Western Fuels and Western Power Producers.
Mr. Richard J. Sorem was elected to the board in 2002, serving for 21 years. He filled the position his father, James Sorem, had previously held since 1985. Mr. Sorem grew up on a dry land farm in northwest Hodgeman County, on which he currently farms with his wife, Linda. Mr. Sorem graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and in 1982 returned to Hodgeman County to farm with his father. He is a past Board of Director of The Farmers State Bank.
Mr. Seib and Mr. Sorem’s knowledge and leadership on our Board of Trustees will be missed by all at Lane-Scott Electric. We wish these two gentlemen the best in their retirement and are very appreciative for the many years of service both provided to the employees and members!
