Lane-Scott Electric Completes Substation
Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. has been working alongside ONEOK, Inc. and Sunflower Electric Power Corporation to install a 10-megawatt (MW) substation and 8 miles of 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line near the US 83 and Highway 4 intersection. Construction was completed in March and will be energized this month.
The project began in the Fall 2024 when ONEOK approached Lane-Scott regarding a new pumping station load of approximately 6 MW. To accommodate the substation location and needed load capacity, Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, Lane-Scott’s generation and transmission provider constructed an additional 8 miles of 115 kV transmission line.
“Projects like this reflect our commitment to provide a reliable system to all our members,” said Dal Hawkinson, Lane-Scott operations manager. “In addition to providing the needed capacity for the new pumping station, the new substation will share load with the nearby Manning substation.”
