Lane-Scott Electric Sponsoring Four Students to Attend the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour and Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp

Lane-Scott Electric is excited to announce we will again be sponsoring two students to attend the Electric Cooperative Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., and two students to travel to Steamboat Springs, CO, to the Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp in 2025!

Electric Cooperative Youth Tour

June 14-20, 2025. The Electric Cooperative Youth Tour provides students the opportunity to see their nation's capital up close, learn about the political process, and interact with elected officials.

Students from across Kansas meet in Topeka before embarking on a weeklong trip to develop leadership skills and expand their knowledge of our political system. While in Topeka, they take a look at the State government touring the Capital and meeting state elected officials.

From Topeka, students travel to Washington D.C. to visit Kansas’ congressional delegation and tour national memorial museums and monuments such as the Holocaust Museum, George Washington's Mt. Vernon, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Smithsonian museums.

Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp

July 11-17, 2025. Students from cooperative communities in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming come together for this week-long event. The attendees engage in activities to develop leadership and speaking skills and learn about democracy and the electric industry, in particular the cooperative business model.

Leadership's not the only thing gained.  From team building activities, rafting on the Colorado River, touring a coal mine, exploring downtown Steamboat Springs, to watching a live raptor demonstration – students are sure to have fun and capture memories to last a lifetime!

High school sophomores and juniors can apply for these once in a lifetime, all-expenses-paid experiences!  Guardians who are Lane-Scott Electric members will have precedence. Applications need to be submitted by Feb. 1, 2025. The online application and promotional videos can be accessed at: https://www.lanescott.coop/youth-tour-and-leadership-camp.
