Zach Conine, a Scott City native with deep agricultural roots, is excited about the opportunity to serve on the Board of Trustees at Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative. He’s dedicated to advocating for members, building a strong future for rural areas, and keeping the cooperative focused on what matters most—its members.
Zach lives south of Scott City where he operates Conine Companies LLC as well as Conine Livestock and Feeds, a partnership with Zach’s parents that focuses on raising high quality show cattle utilizing the most current embryo transfer, artificial insemination, and genetic selection from some of the nation’s leading livestock. Conine Livestock and Feeds is also a distributor for Sunglo Feeds working to provide and sell show and specialty feeds through a growing dealer network in the Western Kansas and Eastern Colorado territories.
Zach graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Animal Sciences & Industry and has always been passionate about supporting rural communities and the livestock industry. Over the years, Zach has served on several boards, including two three-year terms on the Beef Empire Days board, where he took on leadership roles as both President and Vice President. He also served on the Executive Board for K-State Research and Extension and continues to play a role in the SC Showdown Spring Livestock Show.
Zach spent the first 15 years working in the livestock pharmaceutical industry, spending nearly 10 years with Zoetis (formerly Pfizer) as a Strategic Account Manager. He was responsible for Business Development and Account Management at some of the largest volume, most complex and most influential feed yards in the nation. Zach left Zoetis after the couple had the opportunity to purchase a swine feedlot facility in 2019 and started Conine Companies LLC. Zach currently oversees every aspect of the farm operations. Conine Companies currently consists of a 50,000 head finish swine operation where we custom feed pigs.
Zach and his wife, Alli, have four children. Harper is ten years old and is finishing her fourth-grade year at Scott City Middle School; Callaway is eight years old and wrapping up first grade at Scott City Elementary; Sutton is five and will start kindergarten in the fall; and Conway is three months old. The family enjoys showing livestock on the weekends, and spending time outside together.
