The Lane-Scott Electric “Powered by Safety” Annual Meeting was held on July 15, 2025, at the Lane Co. Fairgrounds with an astounding 450 members and guests present! The festivities began with John Ross & Co. Signature Catering’s crowd-pleasing bar-b-que dinner and homemade ice cream. Keeping with the safety theme, all guests received a solar powered battery pack, child ID kits and overhead line safety stickers. Safety coordinator Chris Terhune and journeyman lineman Dellon Shelton provided an overhead line safety demonstration under the grandstands, while the kids were busy enjoying fair rides the Lane County Amusement Association opened free of charge!
The business portion of the Annual Meeting included approval of the 2024 Annual Meeting Minutes and Treasurer’s Report. Board of Trustee retirees Eric Doll, Chad Griffith, and Rad Roehl were recognized for their many years of service to the cooperative.
General Manager, Richard McLeon, announced the six 2025 Continuing Education Scholarship recipients, Peityn Beckman, Cheyenne Cramer, Lakin Getz, Kaylee Hendrickson, Jace Miller, and Ayden Whipple.
The 2025 Washington, D.C. Electric Cooperative Youth Tour attendees, Emma Petersilie and Maggie Hineman, and 2024 Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp attendee, Eve Rider, each spoke about their experiences.
Richard McLeon gave the Annual Report. Guest speaker, Mikey Goddard, the Kansas Electric Cooperative Director of Loss Control, Safety and Compliance addressed the crowd.
The Board of Trustee election results were announced as follows: Gary Shapland was elected to represent the Lane and Gove district, Shelly Turner to the Scott and Logan district, and Randy J. Evans to the Finney and Hodgeman district. Trustees are elected to 3-year terms.
Many raffle items were awarded throughout the meeting.
