The 2009 Lane-Scott Junior Board of Trustees
2009 Jr. Board Learns About Electrical GenerationOn April 11, 2009 three members of the Lane-Scott Electric Jr. Board of Trustees took an educational trip to the Cimarron River Power Station near Liberal to learn about how power is generated for Lane-Scott Electric.

Shaffer from Dighton High School; Shane MacNair from Jetmore High School; and Tharn Pepper, Cimmaron River Powere Station employee. 2007 Jr. Board Tours Sunflower Power PlantLane-Scott's Jr. Board of Trustees made a visit to Holcomb Power Plant on November 10, 2007. Six members of the Jr. Board along with Bob Venters, Lane-Scott Member Services Manager, traveled to Holcomb to tour Sunflower Electric's coal-fired power plant. Corey Linville, Sunflower, directed the tour and taught the Jr. Board about how the power plant generates electricity and how electricity is transported to their homes. Jr. Board members able to make the trip were Courtney Klitzke, Adria Doll, Heather Applegarth, Tyrel George, T.J. Penka and Shane MacNair.
2006 Jr. Board of Trustees tripOn August 11, 2006, the Jr. Board of Trustees took a field trip to the Cimarron River Power Plant near Liberal KS. The plant has both gas and steam turbines, with the steam being utilized by a neighboring gas processing plant. Tharn Pepper, Plant Manager, conducted the tour. It was very interesting to hear him talk about touring the plant when he was in the second grade, the impression it left on him at that time, and now being the manager of the operation. Jr. Board members making the trip were Tracy Goebel from Jetmore, and Cameron Shay from Healy. Bob Venters of Lane-Scott also made the trip. Junior Board Tours Sunflower Plant and Dispatch FacilitiesOn June 8, 2004 seven out of the eight junior board members along with Clare Gustin, Sunflower Electric Power Corporation and Gary Eitel, Lane-Scott Electric toured the Holcomb Plant and the Garden City Dispatch Facilities. The board members attending were Camron Shay, Seth Scheuerman, Ashley Ming, Steven Frank, Traci Goebel, Joanna Fay, and Ellen Huschka. Ian Huck was not able to attend. Lane-Scott Junior Board of Trustees PolicyEach of the members of the Board of Trustees shall appoint a freshman, sophomore, junior or senior in high school to serve as a member of the Junior Board of Trustees for Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. for a period of one year. The length of service to this Junior Board of Trustees shall not exceed two years. No person shall be eligible to become a member of the Junior Board of
Trustees: This is an educational program to encourage youth of our community to learn about cooperatives. This will include field trips and boardroom discussions on the operation and organization of cooperatives in general with emphasis on electrical cooperatives. This Junior Board of Trustees will meet 4 times a year, once each quarter. The timing of the meetings will be such as not to interfere with other activities.
