Summer Food Drive's a Success
Dighton and Western Plains Elementary Schools Help Lane-Scott Stock the Pantries for Summer
Lane-Scott Electric Co-op sponsored a food drive this past April through May to help “Stock the Pantry for Summer.” The idea was to help stock the Dighton Food Bank and Ness County Food Bank located in Ransom before summer vacation began.
The food drive was two-fold, a community drive with designated drop off locations in Dighton and Ransom, the second being a “Food Drive Classroom Challenge” with the Dighton Elementary and Western Plains North Elementary Schools. The class in each elementary school who collected the most items for the food bank received a pizza party and a $100 donation for the next year’s school supplies. Both schools went above and beyond in their efforts and items collected with an amazing 1,050 items collected for the Dighton Food Pantry, and 630 to the Ransom Food Bank! Thank you to everyone who helped contribute towards a great cause. Next year we hope to continue and expand the “Challenge.”
