Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. was started because of the need for electricity in the rural areas; the founding fathers established Lane-Scott to fulfill these needs. Today, we have 26 dedicated professionals who serve our member-owners and communities. Lane-Scott looks to the same principles and cooperative traditions we were started on 67 years ago.
Serving Western Kansas
Lane-Scott Electric serves approximately 6000 retail electric meters spread throughout eight counties in western Kansas. Our system is made up of 40 miles of 34.5-sub transmission line, 2000 miles distribution line and eight substations. All our electricity is generated in Holcomb, Kansas by Sunflower Electric Power Corporation, which is owned by Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. and five other Kansas electric cooperatives.
We believe that a sound and forward thinking statewide is a great advantage for a distribution; Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. is proud to be an active participant and member of the Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc. (KEC). Our statewide organization supports cooperatives in the following areas: Governmental Relations, Apparatus Testing, Loss Control and Safety, Regulatory Compliance, Communications, Education and Training, Legal Assistance and Management Consulting Services.
Striving to Exceed Expectations
Lane-Scott Electric Cooperative, Inc. has consistently invested in infrastructure and training to make sure that you, our member-owners, receive service that goes above and beyond your expectations. In our last member survey in 2006 the vast majority of member-owners thought that Lane-Scott had exceeded expectations and were moving in the direction they believe we should. Handling customer complaints scored highly on our survey as our member-owners feel that we exceeded expectations and our commitment to the various communities we serve has been exceptional.
More Than Just the Electric Company
Providing reliable electricity at fair rates is just the beginning. As a Member-Owned Cooperative, our team strives to serve our communities through leadership, integrity, accountability, innovation and community involvement. We partner with local businesses and organizations to support regional economic development. Lane-Scott also actively encourages our team members to work in the community by volunteering for activities. We’re more than “just the electric company.” We are your neighbors, friends, husbands and daughters. We work hard because it’s our community too.
